Explore an Exciting New World of Learning

Centre-based early years education provides a fantastic opportunity for your child to interact with others, explore a new and exciting environment and learn important skills that will assist them at school and beyond.

Pioneers are fortunate to have four centres in Dunedin, giving parents a range of options to suit their family’s specific needs. Each centre has its own unique character, and we encourage you to pay a visit to see which will suit you best, but one thing you’ll find at all of our centres is a friendly family-focused environment in which young children can thrive.  View our centre profiles here.

Our Centres

All of our centres work with Te Whāriki – The Early Childhood Curriculum – to provide quality education and care programmes for your child, and are staffed by registered teachers who are passionate about early childhood education.

Storypark is an online e-portfolio used within all of our centres which allows teachers to send you updates, photos and videos while they work with your child so you can see, learn and experience more of your child's day.

We also have qualified cooks on hand to prepare healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for the children so there are no hassles with packing lunchboxes every morning! Making life easy is what we like to do for our families so we don’t ask you to lock in sessions or days. We’ll also make sure children from the same family can attend the same centre.

Our centres are small and have a real community feel to them so children can enjoy meeting new people and making friends without fear of getting lost in a big group. We also keep child to teacher ratios low to ensure that children receive the individual attention they need.

We have plenty of fun activities and programmes on offer to keep children entertained as they learn about the world around them. We’re big on nature and sustainability and teach the children to become ‘caretakers of the earth’.  We’re often out and about exploring the wonderful natural environment all around us with regular forest walks, gardening activities and trips into the local community.

Pioneers early years centres provide children with an environment in which they can safely explore the world around them and thrive as they learn.
